About Essential Sequential

Why We Started

Essential Sequential was founded in 2009 by Jason Schachter, a lifelong comics fan and habitual comic‑con goer. Like many collectors, Jason fell in love with the experience of lining up for sketches, meeting creators, and purchasing original art directly from the artists he admired. Just as important were the conversations—with fellow collectors in line and on convention floors—chatting, comparing notes, and commiserating over favorite artists, pages, and missed opportunities.
 
What began as helping friends and creators who needed assistance at conventions—handling logistics, sales, and organization—quickly grew into something bigger. Jason recognized a need for a more thoughtful, artist‑friendly way to connect original comic art with passionate collectors.
From those early convention floors, Essential Sequential evolved into a dedicated platform built on trust, relationships, and a genuine respect for the creative process. The mission has remained the same from day one: support artists, honor their work, and help collectors own a meaningful piece of comic book history.
